Michael AudetteTraditional Performance

Michael’s journey with the fiddle began at the tender age of 4, marking the start of a lifelong dedication to the instrument. Raised in a family rich in musical tradition, Michael’s passion for the fiddle was nurtured by his grandfather, Alex Carriere, a revered figure in Canadian Métis fiddle music who played the fiddle for an astounding 75 years. Alex’s legacy has left an indelible mark on Michael’s approach to music, instilling a deep appreciation for the craft and a commitment to keeping the tradition alive.

Over the years, he has earned recognition as a 3-time Manitoba Country Music’s Specialty Musician of the Year and 3-time Manitoba Fiddle Champion, performing at numerous events across Canada.

Beyond music, Michael serves his community as a paramedic in Southern Manitoba, a role he has dedicated himself to for over a decade.

Whether on stage or in the studio, his passion for the instrument shines through, keeping the rich traditions of Métis and Canadian fiddle music alive for future generations.
